Wolf

Has the same level of intelligence as an adult human
Weaknesses:
Everything a regular wolf has
History:
Wolf used to be happy with his pack deep in the forest but that came to an end when the ranchers in the area became aware of his pack’s presence. There had been a couple incidents in the area where cattle had been attacked and consumed. Two incidents one of which was by a couple coyotes who had recently migrated to the area. The other was used by his pack as food but they had found no quarry for a week and it had fallen on its own. The ranchers set out to hunt down the pack in their area but others found out and set into action. He was captured by the government and was going to be relocated to another area with his pack. This was a frightening experience to say the least. There where complications as the area they where to be moved to recently had political unrest and the state refused them. They was no place for them to go but a few shelters scattered across the land, none of which had enough room for the whole pack. As it was, Wolf was placed in a wolf shelter away from the rest of his pack. One of the volunteers there took special notice of Wolf and spent much of her time in his enclosure. She noticed that he seemed more intelligent than the other wolves and almost seemed to understand her. Wolf had at this time spent a fair amount of time around humans and, though wary of them for what they had done to him, he was curious about them and was even beginning to understand them. The girl was right, Wolf could understand her and she discovered this to her amazement. She knew she couldn’t keep him in this confining place so she made plans, explained everything to Wolf and let him go from the sanctuary.
Sample post for this character:
Awakening in a strange place Wolf was on high alert. He had never had anything like this happen to him before. He twitched his ears around trying to make sense of this place. His nose burned with the sent of human civilization.
“This isn’t good,” he thought.
Mixed in with the sent of humans, exhaust, and metal was something else of little comfort. There where other wolves there, strange wolves that he didn’t recognize. Getting up his body was sluggish. Whatever the humans had done to him hadn’t worn off. He finally took a look around and saw that he was closed in on all sides by a metal fence he had seen in human areas before. Usually they kept him out rather than in. Sniffing around some more he found that the ground seemed somehow not quite right. It was covered with bark in places.
“This is an odd place.”
I smelled like there had been another wolf in the same area a few weeks ago, but whoever it was, was old and ready to die. They had probably died already.
A human was approaching. The steps sounded like someone who knew how to walk in the dirt and it smelled like a girl. Traces of perfume got stronger as she got nearer. She approached the fence and opened a door in the fence. She didn’t look or smell like she was afraid or angry. Wolf wasn’t sure if she knew that he was still sedated but he tried to show that he wasn’t going to go down without a fight.
Giving a menacing, low growl he backed up, put his head down, laid his ears flat, and barred his teeth. She backed up a little and said something. He wasn’t listening closely, but something about it surprised him. It wasn’t the loud, angry shouting he’d heard from every other human he’d encountered, but it was soft and calm. The girl left the cage and closed the gate behind her. He was still very tired from the sedatives and didn’t have much strength left so he decided to a corner that looked comfortable and laid down to rest and think on what had just happened.
“What in the world has happened to me?” He thought to himself as he nodded off unintentionally.
