Name: Kaitlyn Hilison
Nickname: Kate and little bird
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Species: Shape-Shifter (She can turn into a phoenix)
Personality: When most people first describe Kate the first two things they say about her is she is both happy and serene. Her kindness really shows because she is constantly trying to find the best in people and at times she refuses to be anything but an optimist. Even though she seems very open with people she actually reveals very little of herself until she knows a person well.
Appearance: She is 5’3” and weighs 102.5lbs. She appears delicate and she is slim, with hardly any curves. Her emerald coloured eyes and curly red hair set her apart in any crowd.
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Family: Her mother, her father left when she was 5.
Current lover/boyfriend/spouse: None
Offspring: None
Job: She still attends High School but she works part time jobs to help her mother pay for the bills.
Powers: She can change into a phoenix and control fire. As a phoenix she can sense other’s emotions.
Weaknesses: When she is a phoenix she can’t fly when she’s wet and because her bones are hollow just like any other bird’s they are easy to break. She is scared of open water and she avoids it when possible. Also, as a phoenix strong emotions can throw her off or distract her.
Likes: Sunny days, chocolate, ice cream, Christmas, painting, sketching, using pastels (and many other art things), the moon, wide open spaces and people
Dislikes: Swimming (even though she can), ice, people who are deliberately cruel, pessimists, small spaces, apartment buildings and cats
History: Her father left her and her mother when she was 5. Because her mother was an artist that hadn’t yet made her name her mother had to give up art for something that was a little more consistent to provide for her. Year after year she had to watch as her mother struggled to make ends meet. The paints that her mother had once used every day grew covered with dust until she herself picked them up.
At school she tried not to show just how poor she was but when her friends found out they didn’t care and they let her become more confident in herself. She still wouldn’t reveal much about herself to other but at least she had enough confidence to show them her kindness. She gained many friends as she went through school and Math turned out to be one of her most hated subjects. When she was old enough she took jobs to help support herself and her mother and she worked hard at each of them, letting her marks fall behind.
Sample Post: Kaitlyn waited up for her mother late one night after she had finished her chores around the house and all of her homework. She was worried about how hard her Mom had been working lately and she knew that her mother had been saving up money for her to go to University. Watching the clock tick past the minutes after midnight she wished there was more she could do for her. It didn’t take much to see that when she was awake that her Mom longed to pick up her brushes and paint. She always made excuses though and they were never touched by anyone but her daughter.
Knowing that her mother’s shift ended soon she got up and made something for her to eat. She would’ve skipped supper again so she could get in the extra hour’s work and earn that much more.
Kaitlyn heard the front door of the apartment opening just as she was finishing the meal she had prepared.
A voice called softly, “I’m home.”
“I’m in the kitchen Mom,” she answered. She turned off the stove and brought the two small pots from the cramped kitchen into the small dinning room where the table was already set for one.
“That smells lovely,” Rachel, her mother, said tiredly. “You didn’t have to wait up for me you know,” she told her daughter as she looked in her eyes. Rachel’s eyes were both grateful and a little guilty. She had wanted her daughter to wait up for her anyway.
Shrugging Kaitlyn replied, “It was no trouble. I wanted to wait up for you.” Then she put the two pots on the table and sat down to watch her mother eat.
